Surgeries

Hey Friends!
Well once again it has been awhile since I have posted, it seems the summer time is the time for me to post. The kids and I have had pretty good summer to start off with, although Jerzie and I had surgeries. Both to help us and have better Lifestyles.
Jerzie had her tonsils removed in June. She had them removed because after I had a sleep study and learned more about sleep apnea, I realized she probably had it. I looked up signs in a child/toddler and it described her to a "T". Snores, cranky, very small for their age, and trouble being potty trained at night. I spoke with her doctor and was referred to an ENT to remove the tonsils, which would hopefully cure the preceding problems which were being caused by her sleep apnea.
Well I am happy to report, Jerzie doesn't even breath hard anymore at night and sleeps much more soundly. We are still working with night time pottying but, wow has she gained some weight! I am glad this was a pretty easy fix. Hopefully we will see more improvements here on out!
My surgery was an optional surgery but I think it was time for me to make a healthy choice for myself, and to be able to keep up with my kids, and be the mom I feel I need to be. I decided after a conversation with a friend in April 2015 that it would be a good idea to look into weight loss surgery (WLS). It was an easy process to start, because there is an local office that provides a free seminar online to watch that explains everything into more details. After watching the video, I remember it was the next day, and I happened to be called for a random drug test for work, and was on my way back, which was very fortunate because I received the phone call to get all my insurance information so they could look and see if I was eligible for WLS. (If I was at work I would have probably missed this call).
A few days passed and I received another call stating that my insurance does cover, and they would love to schedule my first appointment to meet a doctor and discuss what I wanted to get done and the options that would be best for me. I made the appointment and attended, along with getting my blood taken, talking to the doctor, getting a chest x-ray, a EKG, scheduling a sleep study and scheduling an endoscopy, and a nutritionist (nut) appointment I was on my way home thinking is this really happening?
After it had all settled in, I decided that a Gastric Sleeve would be the best option for me. It doesn't rearrange your intestines like a full bypass, and is not as easy to fail with such as the lap band.
After all my results were in and the final approval was in from the insurance company, I was called for my final appointment. I met with the doctor and he talked with me about any concerns I had and questions, and then we picked my date, MY LIFE CHANGING DATE, July 13 2015.
I know it all seemed like a whirlwind to me about what was happening, and hard to explain in this one post is hard, so I will continue my story with the next post, that will include my surgery day!

Have a wonderful day!
